Radiant Unraveling is a print production workbook that explores the tension between structure and vulnerability through typography, grid systems, and tactile material choices.

Radiant yet Unraveling was developed to define and demonstrate key terms in graphic design within the context of print production. The concept centers on balancing the emotional ambivalence of Radiant yet Unraveling, using this as a framework to guide typographic hierarchy, grid systems, and layout decisions throughout. Through the interplay of structure and release, the project explores how clarity and fragmentation can coexist, shaping both the visual language and the overall experience of the workbook. Translating technical print production terms into a visually engaging layout required careful consideration. Through type, texture, and composition, the design reflects the tension of holding form while allowing it to come undone. I worked to balance informational content with expressive design, using spacing, composition, and subtle variation to keep the pages dynamic without overwhelming the information. Built on modular and hierarchical grids, the layout balances rhythm and disruption through shifting alignments and expanding space. A serif grounds the body in structure, while a sans-serif introduces openness and movement. Printed on uncoated stock, the tactile surface softens edges and embraces subtle imperfection. This work functions as both a study in print production and an exploration of emotional ambivalence, showing how design can hold tension—radiant yet unraveling—through both process and material.
